28 May 2016 Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) extended festive spirit by co-organizing the Tuen Ng Volunteer Visit to Elderly with St. James’ Settlement (“SJS”) for the sixth consecutive year, in a bid to spread love and blessings to 800 elderly living alone during the festive time.
On Saturday, 28 May 2016, nearly 100 HH Social Club volunteers, their families and friends and volunteers from Hong Kong Outstanding Students’ Association gathered at the headquarters of SJS in the morning to prepare gift sets containing summer cooling gadgets, such as handheld fans, umbrellas, shower gel, as well as high-fibre “Five Grains” rice dumplings specially made for elderly by Kowloon Panda Hotel Limited, a subsidiary of Hopewell. The gift sets were sent to 110 households of singleton elderly residing in various districts of Hong Kong (Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Tsing Yi).
This year, volunteers were trained with essential skills to communicate with the singleton elderly and identify their needs as well as inviting the elderly to share their successful or unforgettable stories in their life during the home visits, helping them to raise their self-confidence and encourage them to reach out. | |
