22 Jul 2012 Hopewell Holdings Limited ("Hopewell") has been the title sponsor of "Hopewell-Yan Oi Tong Green Adventure - Mount Everest programme 2012". This programme gave Hong Kong secondary school students a chance to join an expedition to Mount Everest and learn about environmental protection.
Developing the potential of students
The sponsorship signifies Hopewell’s commitment to youth development and promotion of environmental protection. It is believed that through the provision of professional training and exposure, the potential of the youths will be unleashed alongside the embedding vision in environmental protection.
Providing valuable experience
The "Hopewell-Yan Oi Tong Green Adventure—Mount Everest programme 2012", organised by Yan Oi Tong, selected a hundred students from local secondary schools and trained them as "environmental protection ambassadors". Among them, 20 participants were chosen to join an expedition to Mount Everest at Tibet, where they carried out environmental protection activities.
The University of Hong Kong’s Institute of Human Performance provided professional training for the participants. Dr. Rebecca Lee, a well-known Polar Explorer, was an honorary advisor for this year’s expedition programme. The expedition has been highly supported by the Environment Bureau and the Environmental Protection Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government. | |
