Hopewell Has Become a "Carbon Neutrality" Partner of the Environment Bureau

29 Oct 2021

The Environment Bureau will launch the "Hong Kong Climate Action Plan" next year to develop strategies and measures to reduce carbon emissions, with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Hopewell Holdings Limited has been committed to protecting and improving the surrounding environment and adopting a sustainable development policy. In response to the Government's carbon reduction efforts, Hopewell had become a partner in the "Carbon Neutrality" Partnership Launching Ceremony and was awarded an appreciation trophy. We will establish goals and timetables for various carbon reduction areas and work together with the industry to create a livable environment for stakeholders.

The "Carbon Neutrality" Partnership Launching Ceremony was officiated by the Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, who announced that the Government will set up The Office of Climate Change and Carbon Neutrality to further promote full participation by the Government and the public in transforming towards decarbonisation. In addition, The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, introduced the details of the partnership program to the industry, strengthening the "4Ts" partners as "Carbon Neutrality" partners. The program covers four major decarbonisation strategies and measures, namely net-zero electricity generation, energy saving and green buildings, green transport and waste reduction, for achieving carbon neutrality.

About 60 partners from various sectors, including property development, public utilities, finance, and professional organizations, attended the ceremony, committed to supporting Hong Kong in achieving carbon neutrality before 2050.
