Hopewell and Playright Joint Hands Again for Christmas Playday to Share Love and Seasonal Joy with Hospitalized Children

01 Dec 2012

Hopewell Holdings Limited ("Hopewell") joint hands with Playright Children’s Play Association ("Playright") again in holding "Hopewell-Playright Christmas Playday" at Panda Hotel on 1 December 2012. Over 100 young patients aged between 2 and 15 years old with chronic illness and their families participated in the event. Hopewell was the major sponsor of the event while its subsidiary Panda Hotel provided venue and all the drinks for the Playday. The joyful event comprised of a series of play activities, performances and Christmas meal.

Sharing love and promoting green messages

Around 70 HH Social Club volunteers and 9 Playright Hospital Play Youth Ambassadors ("Youth Ambassadors") from the Hopewell sponsored programme - "Play Actions of Hospital Play Youth Ambassador Group" formed a strong working team in the event. This year, the volunteer to children ratio has reached one to one, which allowed every young patient to be well taken care. Volunteers designed play zones and performances within the frames of the "environmental theme." As a result, young patients from Princess Margaret Hospital, Caritas Medical Centre and Kwong Wah Hospital and their families understood and appreciated the value of play and the joy of Christmas.

Apart from taking care of the participants, HH Social Club volunteers also performed a "green drama" which is especially written for the event. The heartwarming environmental message in the drama reminded participants to cherish natural resources and celebrate Christmas in an environmentally friendly manner. Furthermore, HH Social Club models the virtues of an environmentally friendly corporate as the sponsored gifts were packed with Social Club recycled bags and the Christmas meal was served with reusable meal boxes.

Sponsoring Hospital Play Development Project

Starting from 2011, Hopewell has been sponsoring the Playright’s 2-year Hospital Play Development Project, including the "Play Actions of Hospital Play Youth Ambassador Group" which helped youngsters explore their potentials for a well-rounded development. This project helped Youth Ambassadors build confidence in the experience of taking care of child patients.
