Hopewell Takes Part in “Greening Partner Charter” | | 01 May 2013
Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) subscribed to Greening Partner Charter and became a Greening Partner in May to support visions of greenery. Hopewell pledged to join and promote the campaign for a quality green environment and tree management in Hong Kong and working together towards a greenery community.
The "Be Our Greening Partner" campaign is one of the "Hong Kong: Our Home" campaign activities under the theme “Fresh Hong Kong”. It aims to engage Greening Partners from all walks of life, including individuals and organizations, in contributing to a green environment. Community involvement not only fosters love and care for trees and a green environment, but also enhances public knowledge of tree management. |
Hopewell again Sponsors and Supports WWF Earth Hour | | 23 Mar 2013
Sustainability is integral to the values and business of Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”). To enhance public awareness of climate change issues, Hopewell again sponsored and supported WWF Earth Hour in Hong Kong in March 2013.
Earth Hour, one of the largest global environmental campaigns, encourages energy saving and promotes sustainable living. To support this global event, six major properties of the Group switched off their exterior decorative lights for an hour, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on 23rd March 2013. These buildings include Hopewell Centre, QRE Plaza, GARDENEast, E-Max, Panda Hotel and Panda Place.
In addition, Hopewell Highway Infrastructure Company Limited’s joint venture companies, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Zhuhai Superhighway Company Limited and Guangdong Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Superhighway Company Limited, have also encouraged their staff members to switch off the lights at the staff dormitory buildings in Guangdong province during the Earth Hour.
Actively managing and reducing carbon emissions
Hopewell is playing its part in addressing the climate change challenge by adopting energy efficient management practices. The Group implements measures to monitor and reduce its carbon emissions, promote the use of electric vehicles, and also encourage its staff members to save energy in their daily lives.
Hopewell will continue to support and promote on reducing carbon emissions of Hong Kong through various initiatives for building a better future. |
Hopewell Participates Green Power Hike | | 01 Feb 2013
Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) supported Green Power Hike by forming a 4-member Hopewell Social Club team to participate the 10-km Property Management Cup.
Green Power Hike is one of the largest charity hiking competition on Hong Kong Island which is also an annual fund-raising walkathon for Green Power for the past 20 years. The 10-km competition starts from Aberdeen Country Park and ends at The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association Sandiland Centre, participants need to complete the route within 4 hours. |
Hopewell Wins Three Awards in Take a Brake – Corporate Green Driving Award Scheme | | 29 Jan 2013
Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) has won three awards in the ‘Take a “Brake” Low Carbon Action — Corporate Green Driving Award Scheme ’ organised by Friends of the Earth (HK), Green Power and WWF-Hong Kong, for its outstanding performance in enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing fuel consumption. Hopewell has won the first runner up award for the “the Most Significant Fuel Consumption Saver” for reducing fuel consumption by 36.2%. Hopewell also attained gold award for “Fuel Saving Percentage Improvement” and silver award for “Fuel Efficiency Percentage Improvement”.
The three awards are in recognition of Hopewell’s efforts in reducing vehicle emissions, promoting clean air and creating a low carbon environment. The award presentation ceremony was held on 29th January 2013 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Ms. Elina Lee, Head of Corporate Communications of Hopewell Holdings Limited, received the awards on behalf of the company.
Working together to reduce carbon emissions
Hopewell is committed to sustainable development and has been actively seeking ways to reduce carbon emissions in its operations with the cooperation and efforts of staff members. To enhance employee’s understanding of transport-related air pollution issues, Hopewell invited Mr. Edwin Lau, Director of Friends of the Earth (HK), to an ‘Eco-Driving Workshop’ at Hopewell Centre to explain ecodriving methods.
The objectives of ‘Corporate Green Driving Award Scheme’ are to enhance fuel efficiency in organizations, to reduce fuel consumption of their vehicles, and to promote green driving habits among drivers, which in turn can help improve air quality.
Outstanding results in 2011
This was the second year that Hopewell participated in the Scheme. In the Corporate Green Driving Award Scheme 2011, Hopewell also achieved good results and garnered a gold award and a silver award. Hopewell will continue to promote eco-driving and implement measures to reduce carbon emissions in order to create a better environment. |
KITEC and Panda Hotel Awarded in Power Smart Contest for Energy Saving Performance | | 09 Dec 2012
KITEC Management Ltd (“KML”) and Panda Hotel, two subsidiaries of Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”), have both been awarded Certificates of Appreciation in the Power Smart Contest 2012 organised by Friends of the Earth (HK), in recognition of their energy saving performance.
With careful planning and the concerted efforts of the management and staff members, both companies have achieved significant results in energy saving. In comparison with the total energy usage in the same time period last year, Panda Hotel saved 4.7% while KML saved over 4%.
Panda Hotel is the largest hotel in Tsuen Wan District, with approximately 1000 immaculately appointed guest rooms and suites. KML is the property and facility management company responsible for delivering the quality property and facility management services to the Kowloonbay International Trade and Exhibition Centre. |
