Hopewell and St. James’ Settlement Celebrates Tuen Ng Festival with 1,000 Elderly Singletons for fourteen years

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) and St. James' Settlement (“SJS”) have joined hands for the fourteenth year to organize the “HH Social Club Tuen Ng Volunteer Programme” sending blessings to nearly a thousand elderly singletons to celebrate the Tuen Ng Festival. This programme has benefitted over 13,000 elderly singletons to date, sharing the festive joy.
 
On June 1, 2024, 30 volunteers and their family members participated in the “HH Social Club Tuen Ng Volunteer Visit”. They visited nearly 50 households of elderly singletons in Wan Chai District and Tsuen Wan District, delivering gift packs and blessings. This year, the theme of activity focused on life and death education. Prior to the home visits, the volunteers attended a life and death education seminar cum volunteer briefing by SJS, learning about pre-planning services and acquire communication skills with the elderly. The volunteers also prepared gift packs, including rice dumplings made by Panda Hotel, food items, and pill boxes.
 
Mrs. Ivy Wu Kwok Sau-ping, Director of Hopewell Holdings Limited, said, “Hopewell is committed to serving the community and actively building a more inclusive society. Tuen Ng Volunteer Visit has been held for 14 years, spreading festive love and warmth with the elderly singletons before the Tuen Ng Festival. This year, we also visited the theme park together, assisting the elderly in building the social network. At the same time, we encourage our employees to give back to society and help those in need."
 
Mr. Ford Choi, Senior Service Manager (Continuing Care Service) of St. James’ Settlement, said, “St. James' Settlement is delighted to be working closely with Hopewell to share our blessings with the elderly. Now in its 14th year, St. James’ Settlement and Hopewell have not only made home visits through the Tuen Ng Volunteer Programme but also ventured to the theme park this year, strengthening the interaction with the community and creating unforgettable memories for elderly singletons, allowing them to feel the care of the society."

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) and St. James' Settlement (“SJS”) have joined hands for the fourteenth year to organize the “HH Social Club Tuen Ng Volunteer Programme” sending blessings to nearly a thousand elderly singletons to celebrate the Tuen Ng Festival. This programme has benefitted over 13,000 elderly singletons to date, sharing the festive joy.
 
To encourage elderly singletons to engage in outdoor activities and promote their physical and mental well-being, this year's program included a group outing to Ocean Park Hong Kong on May 18, 2024, called "HH Social Club Tuen Ng Tour”. 20 volunteers in small groups accompanied around 40 elders on a visit to the theme park, enjoying a lunch together at the park's restaurant. The elders experienced the joy of the theme park and the volunteers expressed their care and love for the elders by presenting gift packs and festival greetings, allowing the elderly to enjoy the joyful moments.

Hopewell Holdings Limited ("Hopewell") is committed to reducing waste at the source and minimizing its environmental impact. In 2023, Hopewell became one of the partner organizations of the "GOODS-CO" second-hand goods matching platform under the St. James' Settlement. The platform aims to donate second-hand items to social welfare organizations or grassroots communities in need, improving their quality of life. At the GOODS-CO Partners’ Recognition Ceremony 2024 held on April 26, 2024, Hopewell Holdings was presented with an appreciation certificate in recognition of its active promotion of a culture of second-hand reuse.
 
As of the end of January this year, the platform has registered over 10,000 users and established partnerships with 360 companies and social welfare organizations, successfully matching more than 850,000 items. This year, a total of 104 companies and social welfare organizations were recognized for their contributions to the sustainable development of the community.

Huadu Students Awarded Huadu Student Scholarship by Hopewell Holdings Limited

Hopewell Holdings Limited ("Hopewell") actively supports education programs and awards scholarships to students from Huadu Secondary Schools, encouraging them to strive for excellence in their studies.
 
Since 2005, Hopewell has collaborated with Lingnan University to establish the Huadu Student Scholarship, which has benefited 16 Huadu students to date.
 
This scholarship provides full tuition fee coverage for a four-year degree program, accommodation expenses, and a HK$10,000 annual living allowance for outstanding Huadu students. Scholarship awardees who maintain a CGPA of 3.0 or above can renew the scholarship annually within the normal study period.
 
The scholarship selection process takes place before the students' university enrollment. Scholarship awardees are nominated by the school and approved by the Huadu Education Bureau, based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, personal qualities, and participation of the volunteer service.
 
After graduation, some scholarship recipients have chosen to return to Huadu to work in the education and business sectors, contributing to their motherland. Others have remained in Hong Kong, working in the financial industry and enhancing Hong Kong's competitiveness.

Hopewell Supported Skip Lunch Day Again

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) continues to support the charitable event "Skip Lunch Day 2024" organized by the Hong Kong Community Chest. The Group encourages employees to actively participate and donate their lunch expenses to raise funds for the "Services for Street Sleepers, Residents in Cage Homes and Cubicles" supported by the Chest. Each participant who donates HK$38 or more will receive a "Skip Lunch Day" coupon as a token of appreciation.
 
Hopewell is committed to supporting community welfare projects and, in addition to the company donations, will match the amount raised by colleagues with a corresponding donation. Furthermore, Hopewell will donate the coupons obtained from the matching donation to the elderly served by the St. James' Settlement's Funeral Navigation Service, allowing more people in need to benefit.
